Inflammasome lab 2017 retreat

Inflammasome lab 2017 retreat

This week, the Inflammasome Lab went for a three day retreat to Montville. The first morning we discussed our big ideas for exciting future projects and technologies, and walked the beautiful rainforest circuit at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. We then held a career development workshop, with topics including how to engage with social media (from our resident expert, Rebecca) and how to write winning job or Fellowship applications. Our past lab member, Jelena Bezbradica, then joined us over Skype to lead discussion on how to transition from Postdoc to Lab Head, drawing on her recent experience.  Our second day was a writing workshop, with lots of excellent discussion about what makes good, clear scientific writing.

The photo shows the beautiful location of our retreat venue.
