Welcome Kirsten & Manasa – 2022 PhD candidates!

Welcome Kirsten & Manasa – 2022 PhD candidates!

Welcome to our newest PhD candidates, Kirsten Kenney and Manasa Mellacheruvu to our group.

Kirsten’s research aims to understand how inflammasomes drive fibrosis in chronic inflammatory diseases. Kate Schroder and Sabrina Sofia Burgener are Kirsten’s supervisors on this project.

Manasa will focus on elucidating the mechanisms of inflammasome assembly and activation, to understand their structure, cell biology and suitability as anti-inflammatory drug targets. This project is supervised by Kate Schroder and Stefan Emming.

ABOUT Inflammasome Lab

Inflammasome Lab is a group of researchers led by Prof Kate Schroder at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, The University of Queensland.
We seek to unravel the secrets of inflammasomes – protein complexes at the heart of inflammation and disease – to allow for new therapies to fight human diseases.
