2023 starts off with a bang – with two new PhD candidates, Jared Coombs and Jeremy Yap joining the team! Welcome to the lab! 

Jared joined our lab in 2021 as an honours student and transitioned to a wonderful research assistant. In 2023 he commences his PhD journey under the supervision of Kate Schroder and Sabrina Sofia Burgener. His project will examine inflammasome functions in autoinflammatory and chronic inflammatory diseases. 

Jeremy Yap, the newest Inflammasome Lab member begins his PhD under the supervision of Kate Schroder, Stefan Emming and Larisa Labzin. Jeremy will investigate the mechanisms of NLRP1 activation in response to virus infection with his PhD thesis titled, Mechanisms of virus-induced NLRP1 Inflammasome Signalling
